About the role

We’re looking for a skilled Senior Backend Developer (Python) to join our R&D department at Tacton.

In this role, you’ll help shape and deliver backend solutions that are critical for Tacton’s CPQ (Configure, Price, Quote) platform. You’ll contribute to building performant, scalable, and maintainable backend services using modern tools and practices. What you will do

• Design, build, and maintain robust backend services using Python
• Develop and support APIs, asynchronous workflows, and data pipelines
• Refactor legacy components and enhance system performance and reliability
• Contribute to architectural improvements, tooling enhancements, and test infrastructure
• Ensure production-ready, well-tested, and clean code
• Collaborate with Product Managers, Architects, and cross-functional teams to align solutions with business needs
• Foster a collaborative and forward-thinking team environment

Our Tech Stack includes:

• Frameworks & Libraries: Flask, SQLAlchemy, Alembic, Pydantic, Pandas
• Asynchronous Processing: Celery with worker pools for different task types
•  Datastores: PostgreSQL (RDS), Redis, Amazon S3, ClickHouse
•  Infrastructure: Deployed on AWS
• CI/CD: GitHub, Buildkite, Docker
• Code Quality: Black formatter, MyPy static typing
• Testing: Pytest (unit/integration), Jest (for async APIs)

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in backend development
• Deep expertise in Python and cloud-based asynchronous architectures
• Strong knowledge of relational databases, SQL, and data-centric libraries (e.g., Pandas)
• Experience developing and maintaining APIs in a SaaS environment
• Dedication to writing clean, testable, and well-documented code
• Ability to work independently and take initiative
• Excellent communication skills in English (written and spoken)
• Comfortable working on-site 3 days per week

Preferred but not required:

• Experience with ClickHouse or other modern columnar databases
• Familiarity with reverse proxies like Gunicorn and Nginx
• Understanding of frontend technologies (React/Redux/TypeScript)
• Experience with Docker and CI/CD pipelines
• Strong documentation habits and ability to explain technical topics clearly
